To kick off this new feature we have Ahti, an Egyptian goddess ‘with the head of a wasp and the body of a hippopotamus.’
I don’t imagine the hippo body made her very aerodynamic. I’m sure she also got a lot of shit from both wasps and hippos, all of which probably accounts for her supposed spiteful and angry demeanour.
She would definitely ruin a nice picnic.

That’s one big wasp head *shudders*. I quite like the Mayan gods – used godchecker with the kids at school when we studied them. Great site!

I know the one with the head of a gorilla attached to the body of a hippo. Of course, that’s not a god, just a British foreign secretary.

I once knew someone like that; rather rotund, waspish attitude. It was indeed bad luck if you encountered her in her full aspect.
